All curtains hang better if they are lined. Linings also enhance the appearance of colours and patterns, protect against strong sunlight and improve isolation when it’s cold. If your curtains are made from a lightweight fabric, an interlining will improve the way they hang.
Removable lining make cleaning easier and prevent distortion if the lining or the curtain shrinks. Use our special lining tape to attach removable linings to your curtains.
Hanging curtains
Hang curtains away form the window pane so they do not come into contact with condensation.
Run your fingers along the natural folds of the curtains show crease and pressure marks. These will disappear as the pile lifts and the lustre of the fabric returns.
So that the velvet does not become marked through handling, we recommend you fit tracks with a cord or use rods to draw the curtains.
Cleaning curtains
Before you clean your curtains, loosen the draw-strings and remove hooks, weights and any other metal fittings.
Lined and interlined curtains should always be dry-cleaned.
Net and voile curtains
Nets and voiles should normally be hand washed.
Before washing, gently shake out any dust and then immerse the curtains in lukewarm water containing soap or detergent.
Net curtain whitener helps restore white nets to their original brightness. Do not use a bleaching agent.
Rinse thoroughly and drip – rather than spin-dry.
Press lightly on the reverse side with a cool iron.
