TERMS & CONDITIONS

PAYMENT

A 50% deposit is payable to issue an invoice on any stock or ordered items. All balances must be paid prior to agreed delivery date or otherwise your delivery may be postponed to the next relevant date.

COLLECTIONS

All items to be collected must be paid in full at time of purchase and original invoice must be presented at time of purchase. An original invoice must be presented at collection point and stamped otherwise no goods can be exchanged.

FURNITURE DELIVERY
At the point of sale you will be given a delivery date for your purchase (please note that specific times cannot be given for deliveries). This applies to all items that are in stock. If your purchase needs to be ordered specifically for you we will quote you a lead time for this order and a delivery date will be scheduled for you when this order arrives into our warehouse.

We are dependent on the advice of our suppliers when quoting lead times to you but where there is any undue delay in receiving your order, your Sales Consultant will advise you of this. On the morning of your scheduled delivery, our driver will contact you with an expected delivery time (within two hours).

Please note the following:

A) If for some reason the driver cannot make contact with you on the morning of delivery, it will be re-scheduled for next available day.

B) Our driver will only deliver to the door of your premises. If any of our staff agree to place items inside your premises, Michael Murphy & Co Ltd will take no responsibility to any damage however caused to your premises or possessions within.

C) If our driver calls to your premises and fails to gain access we will try to contact you. If we cannot contact you or if you are unable to gain access for our driver, your delivery will be re-scheduled for the next available day. A re-delivery charge of €100 will apply which must be paid before your re-scheduled delivery.

CANCELLATIONS

Please consider whether there is adequate access to your house and through you house for the item being delivered. A re-stocking charge of 20% of the items value will apply where adequate access is not available when goods are delivered.

RETURNS

You must inspect all furniture thoroughly when delivered and sign the driver’s documentation. This will confirm that you have inspected and received the goods in perfect condition. If for some reason you do not wish to have the goods unpacked, you must accept that goods have been delivered in perfect condition. Any defects which come to light after you have signed the driver’s documentation must be notified to our customer service desk within 3 working days of receiving your order.

CARPETS - YOUR ORDER

Please check the details of your order and if you have any queries please raise them immediately with your Sales Consultant. All delivery times are estimates given in good faith. Fitting appointments are made on your behalf with independent fitting contractors and, due to the nature of fitting work, exact arrival and completion times cannot be guaranteed. When the “delivery only” option has been chosen delivery is to the delivery address only.

Exact colour and texture matching between separate pieces of carpet, and especially between 4 and 5 metre rolls, cannot be guaranteed. All carpets and vinyls are cut to the nearest 12cm in length. All sizes are approximate and within a tolerance of 1.25%. If your room is close to the nominal width of the carpet please allow extra carpet in case a join is required.

CARPETS - DELIVERY & FITTING

Rooms must be clear of furniture and old floor coverings before the fitters arrival unless arrangements are made with the fitter in advance. An additional charge may be made for this work. Failure to clear rooms prior to fitting may result in delays and/or the inability to carry out the work at the appointed time. Michael Murphy & Co Ltd accepts no liability for such delays.

Please tell your Sales Consultant and the fitter if your floor is not of standard wood, concrete construction or if pipes/cables are fitted close to the floor surface. No liability will be accepted by Michael Murphy & Co Ltd unless such hazards are brought to the fitter’s attention prior to fitting.

Fitters undertake to carry out their work with reasonable care and skill but even with the greatest care, home decor may be marked or scuffed during the fitting process. New wallpaper and paintwork should be allowed to fully dry and harden before fitting, a minimum of one week is recommended. Doors may need to be trimmed to allow clearance. This is not part of the fitting work unless it has been specifically agreed in advance.

This is specialised carpentry work which fitters are unable to undertake. In the event that the doors do not have sufficient clearance for the carpet, the fitters may remove the doors to allow fitting and leave the doors ready for your appointed carpenter to carry out the trimming.

CARPETS - PRODUCT CARE
Please ensure that the carpet you receive is the one you ordered, the correct colour and size, and that it is inspected for apparent faults, by yourself and your fitter before fitting commences. If, on inspection, you have any doubts please contact Michael Murphy & Co Ltd immediately.

In all cases genuine complaints will be dealt with in good faith. Carpet is a soft, luxurious product and flattening of the pile will occur as a natural result of use. The sides of the pile appear a slightly different shade to the end and so any flattening will change the apparent colour of the carpet and this can be patchy when the use of the carpet varies in different areas. Such shading and flattening is not a fault. Areas where foot traffic twists and turns e.g. near stairs and in front of seating, can be especially prone to such changes in appearance.

All carpets benefit from the installation of good quality underlay. Re-using underlay may result in abnormal flattening of the pile. The samples used by Michael Murphy & Co Ltd are intended to give the general impression of the colour and pattern of the carpet. When fitted to a large area some patterns have apparently random blends of yarn with striped effect, which is inherent in the pattern.

CURTAINS & BLINDS
Please be sure of the fabric you are ordering. Samples on display may vary in shade to the fabric ordered. Cut lengths of fabric specially ordered are non-returnable and non-refundable. If we are making curtains/blinds to your own measurements you will be asked to sign for these measurements. Fitting appointments will be fulfilled as close to the time given as possible however due to unforeseen delays when completing a previous job our fitter may not get you at the exact time.

The above Terms & Conditions as set out by Michael Murphy & Co Ltd do not affect your statutory rights
