Monday Mood Board: Golden Moments

Going for gold is a statement of ornate proportions, effective in most spaces and automatically ostentatious – which is why touches of it are better than a precious metal overload. An all-season aesthetic, this metallic finish works for both summer and winter home styling, breaking up light and/or dark shades beautifully with its rich vibrancy and colour.

Highlight: A golden staircase? It might be a little dizzying, but it certainly has all the visual impact one could ask of a staircase.

Highlight: It might not be high-shine or metallic, but the golden ochre throw (top; right) really works with the deep grey surroundings – its velvet texture taking on its own sheen.

Highlight: The kitchen is the heart of the home and everyone wants a heart of gold, no? Well, golden taps and sink basins are certainly a start.

Highlight: A golden drinks trolley (left) is the stuff of 1920s-inspired dreams. Love.

Highlight: A golden shelf full of golden frames and ornaments (top; left) might initially seem like a bit much, but paired with a white wall and a touch of red or pink, the results are striking and wonderfully minimal despite the metallic focus.

Highlight: We love the stag head inside the open ornamented frame. A clever update on a classic motif.
