Simple Steps to a Better Sleep: the 6/30 Rule

A good night’s sleep is an essential element of any healthy lifestyle and there are a number of simple steps you can take to ensure you’re getting as much quality sleep as possible. One of these steps is known as the 6/30 rule, and as our friends at Apartment Therapy point out, following it can have a positive impact on your sleeping patterns.

The 6/30 rule, simply put, tells us to avoid caffeine for at least 6 hours before we go to bed and to avoid using any sort of electronic device for at least 30 minutes before bed.

Drinking caffeinated drinks within the 6 hour mark can prevent your body from fully relaxing and make it harder to fall asleep, while using an electronic device like your smartphone or tablet can interfere with your body’s natural sleep cycle and keep your brain awake for longer.

So remember, stay off the caffeine for 6 hours before bed and turn off your electronic devices 30 mins before sleeping. You’ll soon find yourself sleeping better than ever.
