OUR STORY
THE EARLY YEARS
In 1974, Michael Murphy created a home furnishing store in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
By 1976 he had opened a second store on the Quay, New Ross, Co. Wexford – not far from where Michael himself grew up in Fethard-on-Sea.
The core aim of the business was and continues to be, to bring high-quality, stylish furniture, designed and selected by the Murphy family, to your family.
THE EXPANSION
In 2006, Joe Murphy joined the company as CEO and with fresh energy and drive the company began to expand.
Now with two stores in Newbridge and another five across Swords, Sandyford, New Ross, Wexford Town and Blanchardstown, we are Ireland’s leading independent family-owned furniture retailer.
Joe regularly travels internationally, hand-selecting and designing each and every collection to bring the best of interiors right to your doorstep.
OUR VALUES
Holding our core principles close, we are also ever-evolving, championing trend-driven design and adhering to wonderfully fluid fashions.
We do this while always keeping the customer in mind; carrying on the relationship built upon with families over generations.
We do everything that we can to satisfy all our customers needs.
We are a proud stockist of Irish made product, with home-grown art, mattresses, cushions and even more in-stores.
THE FUTURE
We have now been in business for over forty-five years.
We pride ourselves in top class customer service, with a team that has been with us for up to thirty-five years – a fact that we are sincerely proud of – so we look forward to the years ahead with our fantastic staff and loyal customers.
THE COMPANY TIMELINE
NEWBRIDGE
Established: 1974
Store Manager: Alan Duffy
Our first and flagship store, Newbridge opened its doors in 1974 and represents both the beginnings and expansion of our business.
The shop is also our largest, stocking a wide range of our furniture and accessories, as well as destinations dedicated to curtains and bedding – and its own flooring department.
Newbridge also hosts a contemporary, but homely, restaurant – Market Kitchen – providing the finishing touch when it comes to your shopping experience, focusing on fresh ingredients and made-to-order dishes.
NEW ROSS
Established: 1976
Store Manager: Peter Bradley
Established in 1976, moving from its original three-storey location on the Quay, our New Ross store is now firmly settled in its 55,000 square meter, split-level showroom.
A favourite in the town, the Michael Murphy name is firmly established in the area and continues to flourish with an expert staff and a dedicated customer base.

Launched in 2012, our website has grown at a firm rate in the past few years.
We approach our site as another store in itself, as both a place to browse and buy at your leisure, from the comfort of your own home.
We also manage an up-to-date blog covering a multitude of subjects, from our latest collections and contemporary set design to seasonal trends and mood board-based styling.
OUTLET STORE
Established: 2014
Store Manager: Colin Evans
A fantastic destination when on a budget, our Outlet Store – located in Newbridge, Co. Kildare – is stocked with the end of line products from discontinued collections or ex-display pieces.
There are discounts of up to 80% to be had on a range of sofas, armchairs, dining, living, bedroom, mattresses and carpets, all of which are ready to purchase and take away on the day.
SANDYFORD

A boutique offering of furniture and bedding in the heart of Sandyford’s furniture district, this store has become a leading destination when it comes to dressing the home since it first opened in 2014.
The store’s careful displays are as striking as they are shoppable, for an all-around, style-led shopping experience.
WEXFORD TOWN

Set in a unique retail park located just outside of Wexford Town, this store is the place to shop in the South-East.
Opened in 2015, this store serves to meet the needs of town and county, offering excellent service and our style-conscious, quality products.
AIRSIDE, SWORDS
Established: 2016
Store Manager:
A one-stop premier furniture destination for North County Dublin, our Airside store offers all of your furnishing and interior needs.
With its beginnings in 2016, Airside is a beautifully laid out space and a treat to browse and shop.
BLANCHARDSTOWN
Established: 2018
Store Manager:Heitor Kavanagh
The latest addition to the Michael Murphy Home Furnishing family, this new store only just opened its doors in 2018.
Housing a carefully curated collection of product, the very best of our furniture and interiors are represented here.
