Design Focus: Scandi Style

Let’s talk about Scandi style. It’s a design trend that’s going nowhere, but rather increasing in popularity as the years go by.

Originating in the Nordic countries, Scandi style is an aesthetic that focuses on minimalism and functionality while still maintaining elements of beauty.

It first rose to fame in the 1950s and has gone from strength to strength since then.

Now, let’s take a look at how you can implement Scandi style in your own home.

Opt for natural, blonde-wood elements where you can create some warmth and texture within your minimalist space.

Make use of the natural light in your home. Scandi styled interiors use lots of natural light in their designs when they can get it, it’s not as available in Nordic countries as it is here!

A cornerstone of Scandi design is a cool, minimalist colour palette, so crisp whites, greys and creams are ideal.

Layering blankets and bedding is a key feature in Scandi design, subscribing to the Danish hygge lifestyle (creating a cosy and comfortable atmosphere)

The Alba Dining Table

A slim table top of acacia wood sits on industrial metal legs, bringing together an attractive combination of natural and manmade materials to achieve this individual aesthetic. The legs have pointed ends – with protective plastic points to prevent scraping – giving this table a tip-toe form that enhances the light feel and fine design.

The Alba 3 Door Console Table

A bright and fresh model with industrial elements, the Alba White 3 Drawer Console Table will instantly lift any space it inhabits. With white drawer fronts, an acacia surround, grey metal legs and drawer handles, a modern, clean aesthetic is successfully achieved.

The Tilden 5′ Bed Frame

The Tilden Bed Frame has a retro-inspired, mid-century design, finished in a mid-tone stained acacia with subtle panelling and beautiful texture.

The Tilden Desk

The Tilden 2 Drawer Desk has a fantastic framework built around it, providing shelving above the desk space, all crafted into an attractive frame with retro-inspired leanings.  Two drawers sit neatly beneath the table, finished with recessed handles that provide a natural touch of detail without distracting from the stained acacia finish.

Moonlight Artwork
A dreamy watercolour depicting the stillness of the moonlit sky makes this piece a must-have for any home. Delicate brush strokes illustrate the soft, white clouds and the smooth sand of a quiet, peaceful beach.
