Spring Cleaning Hardwood Floors

Spring has finally arrived (or so we think), which means many of us homeowners are giving our homes a good old spring cleaning!

While every element of the house comes with its own challenges in regards to cleaning, the beloved hardwood floor can be a bit trickier to restore to its former glory compared to its carpeted and tiled cousins.

However, there a couple of cleaning tricks you can keep up your sleeve that’ll help keep your hardwood floors looking clean and captivating all year round.

Firstly, avoid mopping hardwood floors as this dulls the wood and instead aim to vacuum (if possible!) once every two or three days.

A quick vacuum is all it takes as the aim is mainly to keep the floors free from dust and crumbs.

Remember to wipe up wet spills immediately as moisture is one of the biggest enemies of hardwood floors and can permanently damage your floors if you’re not careful.

The third and final tip is to always (again, if possible) remove your shoes when walking on a hardwood floor as this will keep it free from scuffs and scratches.
