The PTSB Ideal Home Show 2019 – A Concept Unveiled

We’re delighted to announce that this October Bank Holiday weekend, from the 25th to the 28th of October we will be attending the Permanent TSB Ideal Home Show in partnership with award-winning interior designer, Jackie Tyrrell.

Jackie has passionately pursued a career in interior design over the last 22 years, combining her artistic and creative personality with her ability to be incredibly technically minded and producing original and practical interior design solutions

For the PTSB Ideal Home Show 2019, Jackie partnered with us here at Michael Murphy Home Furnishing to create our design concept, Earthy Ambience.

Earthy Ambience is a curated collection of furniture and interiors inspired by the natural materials, patterns and shapes that surround us. Inspired by the Swedish concept of Lagom, Earthy Ambience is all about balance, the balance of energy, colour and texture and just the right amount of just the right furniture, accessories and lighting. Bad design can aggravate, good design can bring balance and peace to a home. Merging form and function, we’ve created a space that is functional, calm and creative.

We recently sat down with Jackie to discuss the creation of the look and her top tips for recreating it at home.

“A golden rule when it comes to interior design is not to play safe with texture, mix and match your materials and create a wealth of tactile layers within the space,” explains Jackie.

“To create a natural balance within the look, we’ve worked on contrasting the smooth modernity of metallic elements with soft, muted colour palettes and sumptuously soft, luxurious fabrics. When creating Earthy Ambience we started with the plush velvet of the Langley sofa and juxtaposed it with the natural, almost raw finish of the retro-inspired Tilden sideboard,”

Earthy Ambiance is a functional design for your home that could easily convert a smaller area into an effective, working space for a modern family.

“As designers, we understand that space can aggravate on a daily basis, so with this in mind we’ve featured two clever storage options in this look to help create an incredibly calming and creative area within the home,” continues Jackie.

“The open nature of these pieces shows off more wall space allowing the room to appear larger, while also creating calming breathability to the look,”
