As Seen In… Selected Press Coverage

We have had some fantastic press coverage over the past two months and we have selected three pieces to highlight in this blog post as a testament to this. Each piece is an excerpt from a larger editorial or advertorial in the relevant magazine or online destination cited. We’re delighted to see our product across multiple platforms!

The original piece from which this was taken appeared in the January 2019 issue of Ireland’s Homes Interiors & Living, as well as Ihil.net

Seat Up!

A selection of seating that is both stylish and practical

Blue two-seater sofa with cushions

Expert comment: Alan Duffy, Michael Murphy Home Furnishing, Store Manager

When choosing a sofa it’s not a case of style versus comfort. It’s not just the recliner sofas that are classed as comfortable anymore, all sofas that we sell pass the comfort test! We’re seeing a clear trend towards more luxurious, comfy fabrics like velvet and velour. In terms of colour, it’s all about the jewel tones, deep blues and navies remain strong this season with some forest green velvets coming through in armchairs and accent chairs. When shopping for a sofa, I’d always encourage customers to try it out first. But don’t just sit on the sofa, curl up on it, wiggle, bounce and really get a feel for how the sofa will work for you. Think about the different options available; like most furniture retailers, we offer customised sofas, if you’d like something a little different to the model on display. You can choose from dozens of different colour and fabric options, you can choose different orientations on corner sofas and on some sofa models you can choose between scatter back and fixed back cushions. When you’re happy with the sofa, then double check your measurements and access route for delivery – it’s so important to double check. What might look small in a showroom might look huge when you’re struggling to fit it through your front door frame.

We took a wander around the new Michael Murphy Home Furnishing Blanchardstown showroom and selected a few of our favourite pieces

l-shaped grey sofa

At the beginning of November, Michael Murphy Home Furnishing cut the ribbon on the entrance to their new Blanchardstown Centre showroom, and revealed a cleverly thought-out space with distinct room sets in bold colour palettes.

There, savvy shoppers are finding a carefully curated selection of sofas, cabinets, shelvings and dining furniture sitting alongside embellished cushions, elegant rounded mirrors and plush pile rugs, and to celebrate the opening, we took a mosey around to select a few of our favourites from the Irish-owned store.

This Tilden desk looks even better in person. Fitting snuggly against a wall its sleek proportions make it ideal for a small space where it’ll almost disappear until you need a space to work at, and the high shelving is an added bonus.

If you’re looking for clean lines in your furniture, look no further than this plush Rose armchair. The mid-century shape is offset by the space age wooden legs and navy velvet upholstery.

Ideal as a coffee table or as a low side table next to a sofa or chair, this oval piece is simple yet striking in its design. Made of Indian rosewood, it’s hardy too and, complemented with its classic style, will last you through the years.

I think we can all admit green is having a moment. As grey hues start to drift out of fashion, earthy tones are coming to the fore, and none more so than natural greens, which merge beautifully with deep reds and browns as well as bright yellows. This is all beautifully combined in the muted yet warm fabric of this Brady armchair.

When it comes to artwork, you should always go for the piece that grabs you. And this ‘Neptune’ wall piece certainly caught our attention, its swirling lines emphasised with reflective golden layers.

Pale blue on one side and navy on the other, this adaptable pillow would look as inviting on a dressed bed as it would on a sofa or armchair.

Wonder Worker

Multi-toned chestnut wood with mirror

It is a rare treat to find a mid-century piece that harmonises with almost every interior aesthetic and a modern impresario such as this is not to be sniffed at. Not only will the Viggo dresser (€635), from Michael Murphy in multi-toned chestnut wood, nestle neatly into your average semi-d, it can work in myriad roles too, from dining-room sideboard to bedroom storage.
