The Top 5 Worst Interior Trends of All Time!

You know us by now; we’re mad for an interior trend. For us, there’s no better way to spend the morning than perusing Pinterest, coffee in hand, looking for the next big thing when it comes to the world of interior design.

But, that doesn’t mean that we feel that all trends are created equal and there are even some we hope never see the light of day again.

So sit back, relax and prepare to take a stroll down memory lane as we reminisce about some of the worst interior trends of all time.

Wallpaper borders.
Either lining the top of the wall or running right around the middle, wallpaper borders were seen as the height of style. We’re pretty sure every Irish household was guilty of this one throughout the 1990’s and that’s exactly where this trend needs to stay. In the 1990’s.

Avocado Bathrooms
A staple of every household in the 1970’s, who even were you if you didn’t have your bathroom decorated in various shades of this sickly green hue? This trend saw a surge in popularity in the US at the close of the Vietnam war and quickly made its way across the pond.

Damask.
It wasn’t so long ago that this print was absolutely everywhere and while we don’t think all damask is absolutely hideous, it’s definitely a trend that needs some serious thought put into how you’ll style it. We’ll happily keep golden damask printed on red wallpaper in the past, thank you very much!

Glass Walls.
Glass walls were initially implemented in order to bring extra light into bathrooms while still maintaining an element of privacy. But at some point in the 1980’s glass walls started popping up all over peoples homes, in very odd places. These days they come off super-dated, so the 1980’s can keep them.

Furry Bathroom Accessories.
In our opinion, these were NEVER on-trend and yet they appeared everywhere from the mid-1970s up until the early ’90s. Not only is putting a furry cover on and under your toilet seat, not a good look, but it’s incredibly unhygienic too.  NO THANKS!
